An Amish Christmas : a novel by Keller, Cynthia.

Publication: New York : Ballantine, 2010 . viii, 239 p. ; 20 cm. Date: 2010

THe most thought provoking book I have read in a long time. Typical rude modern family who lose everything have an accident near an Amish community. They learn manners and to live without there Ipods etc and to become decent people something a lot of families could use this as a text book to a better way to live. Added 31/05/2012 by Heather

this author is one of my favourites His hero is a Israeli assassin and he writes very much like Lee Child. All the action takes place in Europe - Italy, Russia, Germany - some historic info as well. Although the books are sequential you could read any one as it contains a complete story. I give him 5 stars. Added 19/07/2011 by Vivienne

The truth about love / by Laurens, Stephanie.

Publication: New York, NY : William Morrow, 2005 . 392 p. ; 24 cm. Date: 2005

I have enjoyed most of this authors books but I do find them tending to a similarity in plot and characters (i.e: outspoken, forward thinking and 'ton' connected young female; reformed rakish, now steady and handsomely rich and 'ton' connected male; someone is always in danger, invariably the female who is then 'saved' by the hero male lead character with help from his connected 'ton' family which is usually the Cynsters.). I have read the author's sex scenes as particularly prosy to the point where I want to ban the word 'evocative' forever in the written English language! Other than the above critique, I enjoyed this book and found it to be a light read in light of the fact that I have read all the other related books from the author. Added 13/10/2010 by Lucille Anne

Cobber Kain : Kiwi fighter ace extraordinaire by Stowers, Richard.

Publication: [Hamilton, N.Z.] : R. Stowers, 2010 . 200 p. : , Includes index. 21 x 27 cm. Date: 2010

Hello, As this author has written several books with a wartime subject I suggest that the title is probably 'Cobber Kain' who was a New Zealand born fighter pilot who initially trained at the Wellington Aero Club before joining the RAF in England in 1936. At the outbreak of war in 1939 he flew a Hawker Hurricane fighter of 73 squadron over France and by March 3, 1940 had shot down three German aircraft before being hit and forced to bail out. Awarded the DFC he became the first Ace of WW11. By May 27 1940 his score was 17 and early in June 1940 he was posted home to England for leave. On takeoff he returned over the airfield for a last beat-up performing a series of aerobatic rolls, but on his third low pass a wingtip hit the ground, the Hurricane crashing at high speed and he was killed instantly.
